Strength Deployment Inventory Training
Strength Deployment Inventory® Personal Development Tool
Introduction
The Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI®) is based on the Relationship Awareness Theory developed by the psychologist Dr. Elias H. Porter, and is designed to enable accurate understanding of the motivation and personal values behind our behaviour. The SDI model helps individuals to recognise both their own motivation and that of others, enhancing their ability to communicate more effectively and handle conflict more productively.
How does it work?
The SDI describes the way individuals value different strengths and interpret the actions of others. It provides a snapshot of our underlying motivation and explains how this influences our behaviour when things are going well and during conflict situations.
The graphical format of the SDI enables work teams to view and interpret each others’ results simultaneously. In doing so, people learn how diversity in their “relating styles” can be a source of strength while also highlighting how these same differences could inadvertently lead to misunderstanding and conflict.
Key features of the SDI:
- A practical tool for anticipating, preventing and dealing with conflict
- A highly visual model using the unique triangle concept and the seven motivational value systems
- Enables in-depth discussion and understanding of the way individuals operate by revealing underlying drivers and motivation
- Introduces effective relationship-building techniques to improve the quality of interactions
The inventory takes around 20 minutes to complete. Our qualified facilitator is then able to guide the individual or group through the results, developing the greater understanding that is key to improving relationships.
Who is it for?
SDI is designed for people at every level who want to develop interpersonal relationships by improving communication and reducing conflict. It is also ideal for managers and team members who would like to work together more effectively by understanding each others’ personal drivers and motivation.
