Dealing with Disciplinary Situations - HR Training

Course Description
Disciplinary situations are those that involve breaches in standards of conduct and wilful under performance. They can be the cause of concern for Managers. It is essential that as a Manager, you deal with these issues in a consistent, fair and legal manner so that you avoid damage and costly implications for the organisation.

This course will provide legal, technical and practical knowledge required to deal with both informal and formal disciplinary situations.

Course Content
All bespoke courses can be tailored to business and individual needs and typically the content of the course will cover the following topics:

  • Recognise the difference between informal and formal disciplinary situations.
  • Understanding what is a capability matter and what is a conduct matter.
  • The legislative framework.
  • The use of suspension in disciplinary situations.
  • The role of the work colleague/trade union representative.
  • Linking misdemeanour with sanction.
  • Understanding what constitutes gross misconduct.
  • Understand how an appeals procedure works.

Those who have a responsibility for maintaining standards of behaviour in the workplace, conducting disciplinary investigations, hearings and appeals.
