Course Description
Organisations should investigate all accidents and incidents, as the information gained can help protect employees and others and can be used to develop safe systems of work.
Effective accident investigation involves the systematic identification of the immediate and underlying causes of the accident, the understanding of which is the first step in developing appropriate corrective actions to prevent a recurrence.
This course provides theoretical and practical training and focuses on participants gaining the tools and techniques needed to carry out an effective accident investigation and to be able to produce a thorough report making appropriate recommendations.
Course Content
All bespoke courses can be tailored to business and individual needs and typically the content of the course will cover the following topics:
- The need for accurate reporting.
- Understanding the purpose of accident investigation.
- Following procedures and understanding the key stages of investigation.
- What equipment is necessary.
- Identifying the key information that is required.
- Planning and conducting the investigation.
- Analysing and presenting results.
- Developing corrective actions.
- Effective report writing.
Who is it For?
This course is designed for anyone who may be involved in investigating workplace accidents and could include Directors,managers, Supervisors, Safety Reps or any other member of staff.
Course duration
Typically a one day course but may be condensed to half day focusing on theory, subject to the clients needs.
Certification
Delegates will be awarded a NorthgateArinso Employer Services certificate of attendance.
